Hello there, Disney Fans of Loudoun! Its time for our continuing feature, Frequently Asked Questions about Disney, with our focus on planning your next trip to Walt Disney World in Florida.
As veterans of over fifty trips to Disney Attractions, we have learned a lot about planning a trip to Walt Disney World (WDW), and we want to share with you ideas each month about how to make your visit an enjoyable one to Orlando.
Q: I heard that a lot of changes are coming to Hollywood Studios, and with so much “missing”, should I still plan to visit that park?
A: Yes, with a caveat!
It is true that Hollywood Studios is going through a lot of changes, including the rumored introduction of “Cars”, similar to what is at Disneyland in California, and the closure of a number of attractions.
That said, the park still has a number of great attractions that you wouldn’t want to miss, including Toy Story Midway Mania, Star Tours (the Star Wars Themed Ride), Rockin Rollercoaster Starring Aerosmith, and the Tower of Terror. Also, there is the ever popular Star Wars Weekends, and the “Lights, Motors, Action!” stunt show.
Now, for the caveat.
This park can sometimes be “boring” for little ones, and since there is a small number of attractions that smaller children can ride on (under 40″), it is not a good all day destination unless you are REALLY into Star Wars or movies in general.
We recommend that you plan a half day, and like any visit, try and schedule that visit for the day after an Extended Magic Hours (EMH) day. This is because most guests follow Disney’s EMH religiously, and pack the park that has EMH and then don’t visit it the following day, so you can benefit from “not following the crowds”.
Also, make sure to get your Fastpass+ in advance, since the smaller number of rides and attractions at Hollywood Studios means that the Fastpass+ will be in shorter supply.
Please let us know in the comment section of any other tips that you might have about visiting Hollywood Studios! And, as always, please contact us, if we can help with planning your trip to Walt Disney World.
